live editor online: speed and version

Running the live editor online is very slow. Is that normal and anyway to speed up? Also every time it takes a long time loading and opening .mlx, is that normal? Browser suggestions?
Which version of matlab on hardrive does the live editor correspond to?

MATLAB Online typically runs the newest released version of MATLAB. However immediately after a new release the old version continues to be used until they can release the new version. The delay is typically one to three days.

There is no way to speed up running in MATLAB Online. MATLAB Online is a convenience system, not intended for high performance or research. People who need higher performance can rent time from cloud services.
Loading mlx does take a while, at least for the first one (switching windows does not take long.)
