I am using Windows 8.1 with an AMD 6-6310 processor and have Matlab 2014b installed. I get the illegal instruction error and "Matlab has stopped working" while doing fairly simple linear algebra. I set the environment variables MATLAB_DISABLE_CBWR to 1 and MKL_CBWR to SSE4_2 as mentioned in the 1043644 bug report and still get the error.

I happen to be getting the same issue, and part of me is wondering if it's because the workaround is for AMD Jaguar processors? I have an AMD A8-6410, and it turns out both processors in question are part of AMD's Puma family, which is the successor to Jaguar.
