s函数全局变量与ssSetNumRWork等的区别？。

我觉得simulink 中S函数提供的ssSetNumRWork()、ssSetNumIWork()等函数跟申明一个全局变量的功能相同。是否S函数中不能申明全局变量，而只能用ssSetRWork等函数实现？？
