3D retinal layer thickness and volume measurment

Greetings all,
I am currently working on segmenting various retinal layers in OCT images, and additionally, measuring their respective thickness and volume. However, I am relatively new to utilizing Matlab and would appreciate any guidance or tips that any of you may be able to provide.
