Increase polygons for a stretch of road in Roadrunner
Show older comments
I have a question regarding the LOD settings in Roadrunner. Basically I'm trying to increase the numer of polygons, only for a single stretch of road, by reducing their size. Is it possible? Because otherwise I have to export and elaborate a file that is way much bigger.

Hi Francesco,
In Roadrunner, adjusting LOD settings for specific road segments to increase polygon count while reducing their size is indeed possible. You can achieve this by selectively modifying LOD parameters for the desired road stretch. By tweaking LOD settings locally, you can enhance the visual quality of a particular segment without bloating the overall file size unnecessarily. This targeted approach allows you to optimize polygon distribution efficiently. Utilize Roadrunner's tools to adjust LOD settings selectively and enhance the visual fidelity of specific road sections without compromising performance or increasing file size excessively.

Hi Francesco,
In RoadRunner, to select a specific segment of the road, you can use the "Edit Road" tool. This tool allows you to modify individual segments of the road without affecting the entire road network. Simply select the segment you want to edit, and then you can make changes such as adjusting the width or curvature of that particular segment. This way, you can focus on customizing specific parts of the road without altering the entire layout. The "Edit Road" tool provides a more precise way to work on road segments in RoadRunner, making it easier for you to create detailed and customized road designs.

Hi Francesco,
Thanks for clarification. To adjust the LOD for a particular segment of a road in Matlab, you can consider implementing a technique like subdivision or tessellation. By subdividing the segment into smaller parts or increasing the tessellation density, you can effectively increase the LOD for that specific area. This approach allows you to control the level of detail locally without affecting the entire road geometry. You can achieve this by manipulating the vertices or control points of the segment to add more detail where needed. Additionally, you may need to update the rendering or visualization functions to accommodate the increased LOD for the selected segment.
