Are Flooded Evaporators modeled already?

Is there a block ready to be used to model a shell and tube flooded evaporator using Ammonia as a refrigerant?

Hi Pablo,
In Simulink, while there isn't a specific pre-built block tailored for modeling a shell and tube flooded evaporator with Ammonia as a refrigerant, you can create a custom model to simulate this system effectively. To achieve this, you would need to combine various Simulink blocks to represent the components and dynamics of the evaporator.
Thanks for the valuabe inputs!
No problem, Pablo. Let us know if you have further questions or comments, we will be happy to help you out.

Hi Pablo,
To the best of my knowledge, there isn't a block designed specifically for this type of heat exchanger, with coolant/water flowing through tubes partially submerged in a pool of refrigerant.
You may still get good enough results using this system-level heat exchanger from Simscape Fluids. You'll have to try.
Or, you may write your own equations in Simscape language. But I'd try the system-level heat exchanger first.
