Help unlocking MATLAB due to incorrect name

When I downloaded MATLAB, I saved it under my name but when I went to open it, it was locked. After reading the FAQ's, I understand that this happened due to it not matching the name that my computer is saved under. How do I correct this issue?
Thanks, Kat

The license administrator for your license (which might be you) needs to log in to MATLAB Central and go to the license center at https://www.mathworks.com/licensecenter?s_tid=mwa_com_vwlc_cta2 which can be reached by clicking on "My Account" (which in turn can be reached by clicking on the username in the upper right of the screen.) Once there, they would click on the End Users tab and click on your entry under the wrong name and Remove it if is not valid. Then they would go over to the Activation tab and click on the activation label for the computer mistakenly authorized for, and Deactivate it.
Once this is done you would be able to go through the process and re-install.

Thank you so much for the quick response! Much appreciated. For some reason, it's giving me an error message that reads "permission denied". Contact your administrator or asset manager for assistance. My MacBook is under a nickname, but I saved the license under my actual name. Any thoughts?
Individual licenses (Node Locked Licenses) do not work by name: to install those you go to the Mathworks site, log in with the account you purchased the license with, go to the license center, download the product, launch the installer, use it to sign on to your Mathworks account, and the software will be installed for the entire computer, all users. It would not matter if there was a difference between the account name you used on your MacBook and your Mathworks account name.
If you purchased a Named User License, then you might have to edit your license options file; see http://www.mathworks.com/help/install/license/setting-up-named-user-licensing.html
It might help that under /Applications/MATLAB_R2015.app (replace with actual release number) if you Show Package Contents, there will be an Activate.app and Deactivate.app to allow you to deactivate the installation. But that is probably not going to help if the difficulty is with different names for a Named User license.
