Line plot over image and scaling

Hi Guys. A picture is better than a 1000 words, so here is 3 picture to explain my problem. I have to find a way to plot a large amount of field trip data so they are easy to visualize. If i Put them all on the same plot, it is just a big mess of 67 different line, see below.

so i created an image with matlab representing the 'density of data', see below:

Now what i would like to do is to overlay a single data plot to the image. something like the image below made with powerpoint :)

The difficulties is that i would like to show the axes scale for the plot and the image are not the same, the image is 50*461 pixel, so image x scale goes from 1 to 50. when the plot X scale goes from 3 to 6 volts... Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Medie
