Automatically rehash toolbox cache ONLY if out of date

Hello,
I currently have "rehash toolboxcache" in my startup.m script and it takes way too long to start matlab. Is there a function to check if the cache is out of data and needs to be rehashed? It would cut down on startup times tremendously.

"rehash toolboxcache" really only needs to be run when files are added to matlabroot/toolbox folders. See Updating the Cache and Cache File. Thus, as long as you are not adding to the matlabroot/toolbox, you should be able to remove "rehash toolboxcache" from your "startup.m" file entirely.
As for checking the state of the cache, MATLAB will do this for you automatically on start up and will throw warnings if there is an issue, but there are no exposed ways to query the state of the cache yourself.
