How can I map the frequency component of FFT?

I have convert a transfer function of time domain into frequency domain by using FFT(x,nfft) but the result will be for the whole frequency components ( that means from zero to sampling frequency) and according to my work I want a specific frequency components for specific frequencies (for example from 500 Hz to 1000 Hz) can you please help me
