I have this board which is very powerful but is not supported by MATLAB home edition. Is there any way to run a Simulink model on this board ? :(

This is supported with Embedded Coder. ST Discovery Board
What is your project? Does it need to be an STM Board? There are plenty of low cost hardware boards supported with just Simulink. Hardware Support from Simulink

Yes the STM board has a lot of advantages over arduino
- drivers supported by STM
-powerfull CPU
-more peripherals
-more memory
-embedded touch screen
-embedded VGA controller
-supported by comercial IDES (KEIL )
- embedded hardware debugger , not that crappy serial print of arduino
-supported by VISUAL STUDIO 2015 FULLY (even for HW debugging)
