Simulink embedded coder for Sharc processor.

Why is the Sharc ADSP-21489 not supported by Simulink embedded coder, or are there plans to add this DSP processor?

When I generate code for an older processor (ADSP-21364) and code is generated for External mode (Code Generation Options -> Code Generation -> Interface -> Data exchange -> Interface = "External mode"), only tcpip can be selected as Transport layer. Building the Simulink model results in the following error:

    "External mode is not supported by IDE Link."

Why can I not select Serial port as an interface for External mode?
