Finger print capturing with mobile phones

We are trying to develop a mobile application that utilizes the built-in camera to scan finger prints and outputs an accurate image of the finger print. Can anyone help to provide a total solution to this?

Would the camera be taking pictures of the finger tips and extracting the fingerprints from there, or would the camera be taking pictures of "dustings" of fingerprints on objects, or would the camera be taking pictures of inkpad captures of fingerprints?
