how to snap back editor window into development environment in R2016a

I recently updated to version R2016a. I have been using it for some days now without a strange incident but after closing all open script files in the editor tab I experience that all new script files I open will cause the Editor tab together with the Publish and View tab open a new Window outside the development environment. Is there a way to snap these tabs back in the development environment to show up alongside the tabs such as Home, Plots and Apps?

In the title bar of the editor, you'll see a little curved downward pointing arrow. Click on that to dock the window.
