switching variants at HiL possible?

I have two differnet variants of gearbox models modelled as enabled subsystems in a drive train model. I can switch them at HiL by enabling one and disabling the other. I want to migrate to variant subsystems. Is is possible to swith at HiL testing if I make both of my gearbox models as variant subsystems?
