why is the magnitude of a window 1?

Why does windows generally have a magnitude of 1?

I assume that you are talking about windowing functions for filtering. I believe that it is so that you don't alter the analysed signal magnitude.

because doors have magnitude of 2 and usually window are smaller than doors.
