Hover mouse over a complex number

How can I set the display of value of a complex number to polar form when hover mouse over it in script. Is there any setting or preference to let me do this?

I can’t find phasor format as an option for the Tooltips. Tooltip format appears to be defined by default, and with the exception of following the setting of the format function, not customizable.

The only available option is to create your own phasor anonymous function:

phasr = @(z) [abs(z)  angle(z)*180/pi];

then, as with all functions:

a = 1 + 1j;
ap = phasr(a)

and the Tooltip for ‘ap’ will be:

ap =
    1.4142   45.0000
