How do i recognize the text is written in which language?

I am working on a multilingual handwriting recognition project. The problem is a word might contain alphabets from different languages. How do I classify the text? The text might be in any language. But ocr function doesn't support Asian scripts like devanagri,chinese etc. What should I do for these?
