converting pdf to image

I want to convert pdf format to image(any format) in order to apply image compression algorithm on resulting image. I've tried using ghostscript but was unsuccessful as 'gs' command was not recognized by windows cmd even after giving entire path till gs-version. Please help me out.

Type alt-PrintScreen to copy it to the clipboard. Then paste it into something like Photoshop, crop it if necessary, then save it.
