Rician Distribution K factor Calculation

Hi Can anyone tell me what is the parameter sigma stands in rician distribution when we calculate K factor.Is sigma represent standard diviation or mean or variance.And what does S stand for.
The equation i am using to calculate K is 10log(A^2/2*sigma^2)
