Average of sine wave?

I have 5 sine waves for which I need to find the average. I'm a beginner and have no clue how to go about it and can't seem to find help online. I believe it's a basic question. I'm presuming it's mean (sin1, sin2..) but when I typed sin2, MATLAB showed me it was wrong. Any help?
