How to match an object(template) in a target image where template may have multiple occurrences and there may be some size variation of the template in target image?

I have two images.First is the template.another is target.I know how template matching works based on pixel.But its not solving my problem of having some variation in the target image.Say template is "P" .In the target image "P" may vary in respect to size.as well as may have multiple occurences.Any lead on solving this issue would be helpful.
