Detect SURF (Speeding Up Robust Features) features for 3D volumes? (Computer Vision Toolbox)

For a project, I may be working with the SURF (Speeding Up Robust Features) algorithm to detect shapes in 3D voxel space, based on this paper. I'm aware that MATLAB has a detectSURFfeatures function for 2D images, but how would I translate it into something for 3D arrays of voxels?
