Detecting reference image in video

Hi everyone, I am trying to figure out how to detect reference image in video stream. I found some examples in computer vision toolbox for finding reference image points in other image however I couldn't manage to implement it in video. Is there any other books/source for me to learn and experiment in computer vision toolbox for my needs? ( In example function called DetectSURF was used in order to detect points in both reference and other images then compare these points and output the matched ones. However when I tried to get single frame of video and process it same way it didn't worked) Thanks for your answers
