50hz notch zero pole placement filter

I cannot get this to work using the inbuilt filter command.

My b is to 0.9475 -1.618 and 0.9475

My a is set to 1 -1.5614 and 0.8783.

My notch is at 50 hz with a 500hz sampling and 10hz of bandwidth. My dataset is 10000 points raken over 20s. I don’t know why I cannot get this to work in Matlab.

See the documentation example on: Remove the 60 Hz Hum from a Signal (link). Change the frequencies and it should work.
