Can I run Simulink on a Raspberry Pi in External Mode via serial/USB?

The Simulink Raspberry Pi Hardware Documentation states that it should be possible to run in External Mode via a serial communication interface. However, when I try to change this setting in the Model Configuration pane, I only see the option for TCP/IP.
