Matlab crashing randomly on Macosx Lion

Hi All, I have frequent crashes of Matlab 2011b 7.13.0.564 on Macosx Lion 10.7.3 (and new MacBook Pro). Cannot say when or why, it generally crashes every now and then (several times a day) during unrelated applications or even when just using the command line for simple calculations or plotting. It is apparently related to problems with JAVA. Could be related to graphics but it's difficult to say what exactly could trigger it. I don't do anything particularly memory or CPU intensive, and it doesn't anyway crash particularly more during calculations. Anyone the same?
Hope someone can find a solution.

Try closing both your Workspace and Variable editor windows (yes, I understand this hampers the usability of MATLAB a good deal). Does that avoid the crashes? If so, there is a patch for 2012a only, but not R2011b, sorry.
Do not try the patch on 11b, it will almost sure break your installation of MATLAB.

Thanks for the answer. I've been working for a few days now with the workspace window closed (I don't use the variable editor) and it hasn't crashed yet. That's good enough for me, but it is quite a strange bug. Anyway thanks for helping me.

Thank you so much for this solution. I am using Snow leopard with 8gb ram , 2.8GHz i7, and matlab 2012a always had problems after plotting, or trying to navigate through workspace matrices... I think now it is much better :p
