How do you get past the 'activate MathWorks software' screen when using a remote machine (AWS) with a university MATLAB license?

When accessing MATLAB via a remote machine from AWS, I am unable to prove that MATLAB is activated. I am using the instructions from this repo: here state that the total headcount license is already configured, but I cannot activate manually or using the internet in AWS.

Does anybody have a solution?

You might have to take some additional steps if your license is other than Total Academic Headcount (TAH).
