Cross-correlation for detection for audio signal

Hello,

I want to detect the stuttering syllables from an audio signal file.

Does the Cross-correlation technique work in for this problem??

I'm thinking like that: split the audio signal and compare the stuttering syllables only with other ones which also represent stuttering syllables.
