Safe evaluation of command prompt statements.

Hi, I would like to ask about following problem.

I am working on function which converts plotted results to TikZ and pgf macros. I want to add option that executes autocompilation of resulting output .tex file, however I cannot figure out how to avoid unhandled errors danger.

So far I have used this particular code.

if settings.CompileAutomatically && settings.Standalone
    eval(['!pdflatex -shell-escape --enable-write18 ' ...
        '--extra-mem-bot=1000000000 --synctex=1 -interaction=nonstopmode ' ...
        [settings.FileName '.tex']]);
end

I tried try and catch blocks, though this attitude did not help.
