Smart Guides Working Improperly or Not At All

My group recently upgraded all our machines from 32-bit Win Xp and 32-bit MATLAB to 64-bit Win 7 and MATLAB. We're having issues with the Simulink smart guides (the light blue lines that allow blocks to snap into alignment with each other) where the guides work some of the time, show somewhere away from the block, or do not appear at all. I've checked to make sure the option is enabled under Format>Show Smart Guides and tried unchecking that, closing and reopening the model, and checking it again, but still don't have it working yet. Is there a fix for this?

Update: Fixed this by enabling Windows 7 basic mode. (Right click desktop>Personalization>Basic and High Contrast Themes>Windows 7 Basic)
