Limit axis while axis equal

Hello everyone !

The title might not be clear, so here's my problem: I want to limit my axis while axis equal is active. Here's waht I mean:

plot(fct)
axis equal
xlim([0 10])
ylim([-5 5])

When I run that, I don't get anything on my graph. The best solution I've found is to remove xlim and ylim and then use the zoom tool in the plot window to have a "good" window for my graph.

I hope I've been clear enough, thanks in advance !
