I tried to reinstall Matlab r2020a, but it won't let me as it keeps showin the error "There is a session of MATLAB running on this machine. To proceed you must close all running MATLAB sessions." The same thing happened when I tried uninstalling.
I then deleted the entire MATLAB file on my computer, yet when I was installing, it still showed the same error.
Does anyone have any idea how to fix this?

I speculate that there might be something stuck in the preferences directory. But first I would check with the task manager.

I had checked with task manager multiple times and no matlab sessions were running. I also deleted the preferences directory (the one that's in C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\MathWorks\MATLAB), but the same error still shows up when attempting to install.
