Choosing a feature selection technique for real time activity recognition

I am trying to understand the path to take in referrence to my title caption!

I am searching for relevant documentation via googla any where else that I can find but I am uncertain of my direction!

My question:

1. Is there a comparison or a survey that presents details of the various feature selection techniques? ( I tried searching advantages and disadvantages as well)
2. What are the trade offs for feature selectionin realtions to performance vs accuracy?
3. Can someone point me in the right direction please?
