I have a code written in matlab 2012a and I want to use matlab 2012a to run it online. However, my online version is 2020b. Can you suggest a way to use the previous version online ?

As per documentation of MATLAB ONLINE, you can access the latest version of MATLAB. We currently do not support the previous versions of MATLAB online. I have brought this issue to the concerned people and it might be considered in any future release.

In order to convert a newer simulink model to an older version, you need to be running the newer version.
You might be able to use Simulink from MATLAB Online to do the conversion.
Note: If you happen to be using Simscape Electrical or Simscape Electrical Specialized Power System, then there is no way to convert a recent version to a version as old as R2017a. Simscape Electrical was reorganized somewhere around R2022a, and there just is no way to convert newer Simscape Electrical models to older versions.
