Stop execution of function

Hello,
I have made a library ".dll" with some functions on Matlab. I call one of this function from another application and I would like to be able to stop the execution of this function from the application.
Please I hope your help, thanks a lot.

There is no mechanism for that, other than stopping the program itself.

I have a rude solution. I use one .txt file, there I write a word "STOP" if the main program click on "Cancel" button. In the other hand, I view periodicly the .txt file and compare if the file has the word "STOP". Then I exit the function if its true.
Now, I would like to make this method with a backgroundworker if it's possible in Matlab. Or something like a "try catch" instruction. Thanks,
