Rectangle Particle detection thresholding shapes

Hallo,

I have the problem, that my thresholding eather combines particles, which are not really one particle or does not detect smal particles.

My Idea is to implement the detection of only -rectangle-shaped particles. Do you think that would work and how do I implement this in my code?

I imagine somthing like this, since all of my paricles are probaply somehow in a zylindric shape I could say identify all particles, each with their longest X- and y-achses.
.. I hope that I can detact this way even overlapping particles.
