Matlab R2020b gibberish font
Show older comments
Hi,
I have a font problem in Matlab R2020b (Windows 10), it just looks gibberish.

Changing fonts in the "Preferences --> Font" does not help. I also read somewhere that one might try right-click on all the fonts in the Windows Fonts folder and "install for all users". In that case, I have the gibberish font in Windows itself.
Any thoughts what might be the problem? I am pretty sure that it should be a corrupted font, but I already tried to "reset" the fonts settings in Windows and that did not help either.
Thank you.

Hi Stanislav,
It appears that the language settings on your MATLAB are set to a different language.
To change the language back to English:
- Go to MATLAB Menu > Preferences > General > Desktop Language > Select the language for the desktop and error messages > English and then restart MATLAB.
- Note that the 'Desktop Language' box will only appear in your preferences menu if your computer locale is set to something other than English.

Hi Stanislav, This issue may be due to various reasons.
- If they are not the same, please change them by following the instructions in the documentation page and see if it resolves the issue.
Alternate method,
Kindly install Java 8u271 and check the link to see how to point MATLAB to the right java environment and see if it resolves your issue.

A number of people have had similar problems; I have not yet seen any explanation that could account for all the different cases.
