Why do I encounter a "Firmware upload failed" error when using the Hardware Setup dialog for the UAV Toolbox Support Package for PX4 Autopilots?

I am going through the steps in the Hardware setup for the UAV Toolbox Support Package for PX4 Autopilots, and I am receiving the following firmware upload error after successfully building the firmware.

This error message is caused by a permissions issue, as seen in the Command Window of the second image. This can be resolved by closing MATLAB and opening it in Administrator mode.
