How can I get an older version of matlab?

I am looking for an older student version of Matlab, currently just the 2020 version is available in the download page. But I would like to get the 2019 or 2018 version. Does anybody know how I can to get it?

If you can find the 2020a/b releases, but not older, I doubt you are allowed to use those older releases. In general you will only see the downloads for releases you're allowed to use.

Or do you mean you can only see the download option for R2021a?

Try the following.

Login to your mathworks account. Goto the my account page. Click the download button next to your license.

It should show you the latest version you can download. On the right hand side panel it will show the option to download the previous releases.

This indeed has a possibility of working -- but I haven't been able to find out whether Students have access to the previous releases.

I have not been able to determine for sure, but I have seen a number of hints that Students are not permitted to access the archives of old versions, and so must ask their academic staff or IT departments to download on their behalf.
