How do I animate contourslice plots ?

I was looking into animating scalar volume data, I wanted to know if there was a fast way to refresh the "v" (scalar volume data) component in a contourslice plot ? I know the plot returns an array of patches corresponding each ring. Do I have to manually change each patch or is there a faster and smarter way to do that ?
