Enstablish a communication between Matlab and MCU (e.g. PIC) using I2C protocol

Dear users of Matlab community,

I'am working on a project for which I have to connect a microcontroller (e.g. a PIC) via I2C protocol with the MCP2221 integrated circuit in order to send data on Matlab for plotting some signals. Is there any way to manage MCP2221 with high level instructions of Matlab like it's done with UART protocol? Could someone explain me a small overview of what I have to study to reach to this obective?

Did you ever figure this out? I am trying to do similar except writing to the GPIO pins
