Matlab 2021a and 2021b freezes after a while on apple A1 processor

Hi, As described in the summary above my Matlab release 2021a and 2021b freezes after a while on apple A1 processor. It also froze while I was trying to write to a file. Sometimes it works, but freezes routinely. Thanks, -dr

Current experiences hint that the problem might be Big Sur rather than the M1 processor.

Some of the problems are worked around by starting MATLAB from Terminal rather than from icon or dock.

Thanks. For my current application I need matlab desktop as I have to pick values from the screen and enter into a gui to be saved along with a number of other parameters that go along with those values. I am not sure whether this works with macosx terminal with matlab -nojvm -nodesktop using alias = "/Applications/MATLAB_R2021b.app/bin" , but it still freezes using this or cd'ing to the matlab folder and running ./matlab or ./matlab -nosplash

Would certainly like further ideas for resolving this.
