How can i create backward masking trials for fMRI in MATLAB?

Hello. I'm going to do an fMRI study using visual backward masking paradigm. It will be in event-related design. I have 3 files of positive, negative and neutral pictures. In the experiment, first positive or negative picture for 37 ms (prime), then mask (neutral picture) lasting 467 ms, followed by 3500 ms response screen (emotional valence scoring), followed by 2,4 and 6 s screen (fixation point) How can I create this in MATLAB?

Use Psychtoolbox instead of trying to use matlab directly .
