Why do I get a Service Error "Error 334: An attempt to create a new profile for an email address already in use was detected"?

During an automatic installation I was prompted to create a MathWorks account. upon filling in my email address, name, and activation key I got a Service Error "Error 334: An attempt to create a new profile for an email address already in use was detected." I don't recall ever having created a MathWorks account before.

This error indicates that a MathWorks account already exists for the email address you provided. If you did not create an account, one may have been created for you by your license administrator.
If you do not know the password to your MathWorks account, you can request a password reset be emailed to you by clicking on the link below:
Once you have retrieved your MathWorks account password, close any open error windows and click "Back" in the MathWorks Installer. Select to log in with your email address and MathWorks account password and continue with the installation procedure.
