Compute the maximum in-plane shear stress Compute the average normal stress
Computes the maximum in-plane shear stress and average normal stress for a 2D stress state
Inputs:
- sigma_x: the normal stress in the x-direction
- sigma_y: the normal stress in the y-direction
- tau_xy: the shear stress in the xy-direction
Outputs:
tau_max: the maximum in-plane shear stress% - sigma_avg: the average normal stress
