TrussCalc 2D was developed as part of the project Static Stress Analysis of 2D Truss for the course CE 206: Engineering Computation Sessional at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), Dhaka, Bangladesh. The application is designed for static stress analysis of 2D truss structures using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) principles.
The software employs the 1D bar element formulation, where truss members are treated as linear elastic elements subjected to axial forces. To improve numerical stability, it integrates the Reverse Cuthill-McKee (RCM) algorithm, which reorders the input data to ensure that the global stiffness matrix remains well-conditioned for efficient computation.
TrussCalc 2D features a real-time interactive UI, allowing users to define truss geometry, assign material properties, set boundary conditions, and apply loads with instant graphical visualization. The software computes nodal displacements, reaction forces, and internal member stresses, providing a structured framework for truss analysis.
