A boost converter is a type of DC-to-DC converter that steps up the input voltage to a higher output voltage.
A boost converter is a type of DC-to-DC converter that steps up the input voltage to a higher output voltage. When using a MOSFET (Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor Field-Effect Transistor) as the switching device, the circuit typically includes the following components:
- Inductor: Stores energy when the MOSFET is on and releases it when the MOSFET is off.
- MOSFET: Acts as a high-speed switch, controlled by a Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) signal.
- Diode: Ensures current flows in the correct direction and prevents backflow.
- Capacitor: Smoothens the output voltage by reducing ripples.
