Time–frequency mode decomposition for univariate signals based on Variational Mode Decomposition (VMD) (Dragomiretsky & Zosso, 2013). We introduce a modification that promotes orthogonality among modes within the minimization problem. Combined with a proportional adjustment of filter bandwidth, this approach effectively prevents mode duplication and enhances the robustness of the decomposition against over-segmentation.
The accompanying example code reproduces the results presented in Section III of the paper Orthogonalized Variational Mode Decomposition published in Signal Processing.
