This MATLAB implementation accompanies the research paper by H. Dong, T. Shan, G. Yu, Y. Shi, and Y. Chen, 《Variational Time-Frequency Mode Tracking for Micro-Doppler Signature Extraction》, Signal Processing, 2025. VTFMTD integrates variational optimization with the short-time Fourier transform to decompose composite radar signals into intrinsic modes and accurately estimate their instantaneous frequencies. The method offers high robustness to noise and strong amplitude modulation through adaptive time-frequency Wiener filtering and iterative centroid-based IF refinement.
